1770 Golf Club Coca Cola Classic

The 1770 Golf Club annual Coca-Cola Classic was played on Sunday, 23 August, with winners Nick Michalsky and Shawn Horley completing the 9 hole 2 person ambrose with a great round of net 29 1/8. John Jennings and Peter De Carli came in second place with a net 29 ¾, Peter and Roma Bernardin placed third with a net 30 ¼, and Tania Dickson and Michelle Sheppard came in fourth place with a net 30 5/8.

Nick Michalsky won the pin shot on hole 11, Peter Bernardin hole 12, Peter De Carli hole 13 and John Jennings hole 17. Peter Bernardin won the mens longest drive on the 18th, while Tania Dickson won the ladies longest drive. Congratulations to all players and thank you to Coca-Cola who sponsor this event each year.

Thursday’s competition was a 4BBB stableford competition with Doug Toohey and Neville Hughes playing a great round of 48 points to win the day.

Brendan Abel and Peter Hoffman came in second place with 44 points and Peter Grady and Brett Newstead placed third with 43 points. Doug Toohey also won the pin shot on hole 3, Ray Crawford hole 4, Peter Causton hole 5 and Brett Newstead hole 6.

Friday’s Chook Run was won by Tania Dickson with a net 30, Shawn Horley came in a close second place with a net 30.5 and Brett Newstead placed third with a net 31 and also had a great round of 37 on the back 9 for best gross score of the day. Ashley Newstead won the pin shot on hole 12, Tania Dickson hole 13, Brett Newstead hole 14 and Lex Davis hole 17.

Saturday’s individual stableford competition was won by Jay Bills with a great round of 38 points, Ashley Newstead came in runner up with a very close 37 points. Ashley also won the pin shot on hole 3, Bills Collins hole 4, Peter Bernardin hole 5 and Peter Causton hole 6.

The annual Bomber Classic in aid of the Agnes Water/1770 Local Ambulance Committee is on Sunday, 13th September. It is an 18 hole 4 person ambrose. Nomination forms can be obtained from the 1770 Golf Club pro shop or made on 4974 9663.
