Elisa Detrez, Best Jobs in Australia, Queensland Park Ranger announced this that, after six months of travelling, testing and exploring Queensland activities, she has chosen 1770 LARC! Tours as ‘The Best Tour’!
Elisa has voted and published the Best Job Awards at the conclusion of her tenure with Tourism Australia and Tourism and Events Queensland.
Elisa is the 2013 winner of the Best Jobs in Australia, Queensland Park Ranger and is working alongside experienced guides and tourism operators to showcase Queensland’s best natural assets to the world through blogging and social media.
On Wednesday, 15 January, Elisa, travelled on 1770 LARC! Tours full day Paradise Tour which encompasses entry into the only operating lighthouse in Queensland open to the public (Bustard Head Lighthouse), full interpretive tour of the Light station, sandboarding 35m sand dunes, informative historical and environmental commentary, and spotting of local wildlife and migratory bird life.
Following her tour, Elisa publicised all her experiences in the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water, including her LARC! tour, on social media.
The Best Jobs in Australia campaign has embraced regular communication with a new audience of travellers worldwide and the tourism industry will reap the rewards of this well into the future.
The iconic pink LARC vessels are the only means for passengers to access the isolated Bustard Head Light station. This automated lighthouse was Queensland’s first coastal light, built in 1868, and for 118 years there was an unbroken vigil of a light keeper climbing the stairs to light the lamp.
In 1986 the lighthouse was automated and since 1994 the Mergard family have operated tours on their amphibious LARC vessels to showcase the spectacular Bustard Bay to passengers.
The 27kms north of the Town of 1770 that the LARC! Paradise Tour explores is a haven for wildlife and migratory bird life and after almost 20 years of LARCing, many of these animals are accustomed to the sound and habits of the LARC and therefore allow a terrific encounter for passengers.
Owner and operator Neil Mergard, pictured at left with Elisa, is ecstatic with the announcement.
‘What LARCtastic news! This is a great honour as obviously Elisa has toured all over Queensland and for our LARC! tours to be right up there and named THE BEST, we are just stoked!’
1770 LARC! Tours is an award winning family business with almost 20 years of history, learning and LARCability from the Town of 1770 in Queensland.
