The 2015 Agnes Water Triathlon scheduled for Sunday, 4 October, will not be held as organisers were unable to secure safety for triathletes in the water in time to open entries.
Triathletes safety is a priority for organisers, and without water safety there is no triathlon.
Planning has already begun for the 2016 race on a date to be confirmed, and race coordinator, Mel Robeck, assures everyone that 2016 will be bigger and better!
Positive feedback from past competitors, disappointed at not being able to race in Agnes Water this year, but looking forward to coming back in 2016, demonstrates the appeal, and the importance of this popular event to the local economy.
Facebook feedback quotes include:
‘A fantastic well run event that we look forward to every year. You have everyone’s support.’
‘What a shame. Loved it last year and was looking forward to this year.’
‘So sad to hear as it was a great weekend away last year.’
‘We look forward to the Agnes Water Tri being back on the calendar and we will make sure that we are all there with bells on (President of Hervey Bay Tri Club).’
Organisers want to encourage locals to keep training. The Bargara Tri Club holds small events every couple of months, and the Frenchville Frogs hold a Triathlon in Tannum Sands in December.
Thank you for the continued support of the sponsors of the Agnes Water Triathlon:
