Bomber Classic 1770 Golf Day

Taking out the Bomber Classic! The 2015 ‘Bomber Classic’ 1770 Golf Day was held on Sunday, 13 September in aid of the local ambulance committee who raise funds to purchase life-saving equipment for the local ambulance service.

The weather was brilliant and there was a great field in contention for the 2015 title. The team of Jay Bills, Shawn Horley, Nick Michalsky and Dave Clarke came in winners for the day with a fantastic round of 60 and a net 52, pictured 2015 Bomber Classic winners. Ross Graving, Doug Montgomery, Mick Turner and Garry Turner came in close runners up with a 65 and net 53 5/8.

Brett Newstead won the pin shot on hole 4th and 13th, and John Jennings the 5th and 14th. Tania Dickson won the ladies longest drive and Andrew Roessler won the mens longest drive. Well done to all competitors for their supper and thank you to Josie Meng and the dedicated local ambulance committee members who put on a very successful day. See you all again next year!!

Weekly competition results, Thursday’s individual stableford competition was won by Susan Mallie from Trundle Golf Club in New South Wales with a great round of 43 points. Peter Wardrop came in second place with 39 points and Todd Cousins placed third with 38 points. Matt Eyre won the pin shot on hole 3, John Jennings hole 4 and Gary Rummell holes 5 and 6.

Friday’s Chook Run was won by Dennis Window with a net 29, Gary Skinner came in second place with a net 32 and Shawn Horley placed third with a net 33. Brett Newstead had a great round of 41 on the front 9 for best gross score in the lead up to the Bomber Classic. Ashley Newstead won the pin shots on holes 4 and 5, Neville Hughes hole 8 and Peter De Carli and Nick Michalsky tied the putting competition with 26 points each.

Saturday’s individual stableford competition was won by Peter Ugrinic with a great round of 37 points. Matt Eyre came in runner up with 31 points. Matt also won the pin shots on holes 3 and 4 and Jay Bills hole 5.

The 1770 Veterans Open is on Wednesday, 23 September with tee offs starting from 8:30am and is being kindly sponsored by Rob Clarke of Rockhampton & Agnes Water Denture Clinics. The competition is a handicapped graded 18 hole single stroke event. All nominations to the pro shop on 4974 9663.
