Council and Miriam Vale Lions reach resolution

Council and Miriam Vale Lions reach resolution on park plan. Gladstone Regional Council has reached agreement with the Miriam Vale Lions Club over land tenure matters relating to the $5 million Alf Larson/Lions Park redevelopment project.

Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Matt Burnett welcomed the resolution for Council to renew the Lion Club’s new sublease and future relocation within a new section of the park development.

“Council this month received an official letter of support from the Lions Club for the project, ultimately reaching mutual agreement to negotiate the club’s renewed sublease and relocation into new facilities once constructed,” Councillor Burnett said.

“The Lions Club sub-leases land incorporating its existing clubhouse and other community facilities from Council, however, the proposed project redesign requires the relocation of community buildings to a different section of the park.

“It is a positive outcome for both parties and paves the way for Council to consider funding for the project in the next financial year.

“If Council confirmed funding for the project in this week’s budget, tenders will be called later this month with construction due to start later this year.”
