Council partners with neighbours to save on road resealing tenders.
Gladstone Regional Council has partnered with two neighbouring Councils to achieve savings on a road resealing tender.
This week’s Council meeting accepted Boral Asphalt’s $511,616 tender to bitumen reseal approximately 24kms of rural roads in the Gladstone Region.
Gladstone Region Mayor Gail Sellers said this was part of a three-way tender partnership that included Central Highlands and Isaac councils.
“Council’s Roads Section developed a rural roads resealing schedule and worked with these Council’s to obtain cost benefits by producing a broader and significantly larger, combined tender,” Councillor Sellers said.
“Each Council independently assessed the relevant submissions to determine the most suitable contractor for their region,” Cr Sellers said.
Roads to receive resealing, on parts of the existing sealed sections, are
Lindy Road and Flat Rock Road at Baffle Creek;
Murphy Road, Captain Creek;
Deepwater Road and Matchbox Road, Deepwater;
Lowmead Road, Lowmead;
Bunker Road, Round Hill and Jim Whyte Way, Burua.
