Discovery Christian College Design Technology students are literally blasting off this term with the construction of C02 powered dragsters!
The 9/10 class spent all term researching, designing and constructing their dragsters to work within a very strict set of parameters set out by the governing body of the national C02 Dragster competition.
C02 Dragsters race along a 20m track reaching speeds in excess of 70km/h!
This week the students raced their cars to see who has designed and constructed the fastest dragster.
Mackenzie Wood came out as the overall winner with a time of just .942 of a second followed closely by Jacob Geck with .943 of a second. Third place was hotly contended and ended in a tie between Dillon Cunningham and Tegan Callow with times of .983 of a second.
Pictured above are the students with their designs. A big thank you goes to the Agnes Water Community Baptist Church for allowing the school to utilize the concrete undercover area for the race.
