Queensland State Government approves Gladstone Region Planning Scheme. After years in development and preparation, Gladstone Regional Council this week received State Government approval to formally adopt the Gladstone Regional Planning Scheme.
Gladstone Region Mayor Gail Sellers said this notification from the Deputy Premier and Minister for Local Government and Planning Jacki Trad was a significant move forward for the future of the region.
‘Since amalgamation, Gladstone Regional Council has operated under the former Gladstone City, Calliope Shire and Miriam Vale Shire councils’ planning schemes, and this key plan will provide a consistent approach to land use and development management throughout our entire region,’ Councillor Sellers said.
‘Having one planning scheme will allow Council to streamline processes and systems which will provide significant benefits to residents, business and our organisation.’
Cr Sellers said Minister Trad stated the planning scheme had satisfied all state interests.
‘The Gladstone Region Planning Scheme will now be presented to the full council meeting on Tuesday, 6 October for consideration and formal adoption,’ Cr Sellers said.
