During the school holidays, while most 14 year olds were sleeping-in every day and hanging out with their friends… Jake and Brody James (who trains Jake in discus), pictured below and at training below, headed off to Townsville to compete at the ANQ Track and Field Championships.
Jake had never competed in this competition before. Brody and Jake came home with seven medals between them!
Jake came first in Shot Put with a throw of 10.11m, first in discus with a throw of 40.02m (his PB), second in Javelin with a throw of 39.9m and fourth in High Jump.
Last week Jake and his family headed to Brisbane for States Championships in Track and Field events. At the event Jake competed against a lot of athletes from all over Queensland. The talent was amazing!
Jake gave it his all and placed 4th in Queensland in Javelin with a throw of 38.69m and placed 16th in discus in Queensland! Well done Jake.
After competing at both championships Jake has made the Queensland Team and is able to nominate for shot put, discus and javelin at Nationals which will be held in Perth in March 2016.
Well done. The community is very proud of you and are so happy that all of your training and hard work is paying off.
Jake’s family once again thanks the community for all their support in giving Jake this opportunity.
