Local students relay for life

On the weekend of 15-16 August, a group of high school students from Agnes Water travelled to Bundaberg to participate in the annual Relay for Life, the Cancer Council’s main fundraiser for the year.

The group travelled by bus, (kindly donated by Russell Scifleet), to Agro Trend in Bundaberg, where they became part of the relay festivities, an 18 hour walking relay which goes from 3pm until 9am the following morning.

In their respective teams, Team DCC (Discovery Christian College) and St Luke’s Chickern Sticks, they had to have at least one team member walking at all times, which at 4am can be a struggle. Thank you to everyone in the community who contributed and supported the students’ fundraising ideas, all donations were greatly appreciated by the teams and the Cancer Council.

A huge thank you to Russell for the bus so they could get to relay and to Marisa Kapetanakis for driving them. Thanks to the parents and teachers for being their supervisors and staying out all night with them. They had a great time and all their support was greatly appreciated.
