Exciting times at the 1770 Dragons with Agnes Water State School having Dragon Boating on the Friday afternoon alternative sport offering.
Last Friday 15 students and their teacher bussed down to the 1770 Marina and made their way to the dragon boats. Students were briefed on safety matters and given introductory instructions.
Coach Jen Hansen and president Angie Draheim were ably assisted by several members of the club.
All students got to paddle and a couple of lucky students got to trial being the boat’s drummer.
From all accounts the time went fast and the future of dragon boating in Agnes Water/1770 looks extremely positive. Students will partake in dragon boat activities for the next seven weeks.
Weather conditions are just perfect for being on the water and the club is enjoying having a number of new paddlers coming and having a go.
As well as the dragon boats, the club has an outrigger canoe which is a great cross trainer for paddling.
This week both the OC6 and a full dragon boat (20 paddlers) took to the water.
Anyone interested in having a paddle can contact Ruth on 0427 653 259. Dragon boats are on the water every Wednesday 4pm and Saturday 3.30pm.
