St John Ambulance (Qld) is proud to announce regular first aid courses are now being run in Agnes Water.
Area Coordinator Debra Moosbrugger said the exciting new venture was in response to a growing need in the community.
“Most people, particularly those with families or specific health problems, want to know what to do in an emergency,” she said.
Debra said having basic first aid skills was vital, particularly when emergency services can take up to 12 minutes or more to arrive on scene.
“In an emergency, 90% of lives are saved by people who know first aid,” she said.
Course topics include CPR, choking, burns, management of asthma and anaphylaxis, spinal injuries, bites and stings, defibrillation and more.
“Our first aid courses will equip local residents with the knowledge and confidence to administer a range of first aid, from helping someone who is suffering a heart attack, to more advanced situations such as dealing with a major car accident.”
“When you train with St John Ambulance, you receive more than just a first aid certificate – we equip you with the confidence to administer first aid to save the life of a friend, family member, colleague or stranger,” Debra said.
Provide First Aid and Provide CPR courses will be run in Agnes Water every few months, with the next course running on Saturday 29 August. Visit www.stjohnqld.com.au or call 1300 ST JOHN for more information or to book into a course.
