The Urban Chiefs to Join #AGNESBLUESFEST Line Up

THE URBAN CHIEFS, one of the hardest working two-piece roots rock bands in OZ will join the star studded line up at the 2016 Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival set to rock the 3 day weekend of 19 – 21 February 2016.

Lovers of psychedelic, blues slide guitar, insane percussive grooves, whisky sour vocals and powerhouse soul The Urban Chiefs add an additional level of energy to any festival. The Urban Chiefs were featured in the Top 5 Blues and Roots Artists 2013, MUSICOZ Australian Independent Music Awards and it’s easy to see why with their strong passion and dedication for producing soulful music they capture the hearts of audiences.

The Urban Chiefs recorded their third studio album at Damien Gerard Studios Balmain at the end of 2013. Returning to work with industry veteran engineer / producer Russel Pilling (The Church, Hoodoo Gurus, The Vines) for a second time, Blake and Glendon have established their identity and found their voice, with this new record, ‘Rise Above’. This is a musician’s album and the musicians are technicians and craftsman with their instruments. The first single ‘The Game’ was released digitally through MGM Distribution. ‘Rise Above’ was released at the Adelaide Fringe in February 2014.

No strangers to region, THE URBAN CHIEFS were a part of 2014 Agnes Blues Roots and Rock Festival and are back once again after playing at various festivals around the country including the Adelaide Fringe Festival (2013-2014), Sydney Blues n Roots Festival (2011-2014) and Tamworth Music Festival (2010-2014) to name a few.

“The Urban Chiefs have been a crowd favourite at previous Agnes Water festivals, so we are excited to have them return for 2016,” said Amber Rodgers of Discovery Coast Tourism & Commerce Inc.

The already super strong Bluesfest bill just keeps growing with the line up consisting of Russell Morris, 8 Ball Aitken, Mason Rack Band, Agnes Blue, Adam Hole Band, Hillbilly Goats, Kissing the Flint and more great artists to be announced.
