The Discovery Coast Theatre Group has done it again with a ‘True Blue Aussie Review’ at the 1770 Bowls Club on 12th December.
With the junior theatre group’s ‘Singing Drips’ and ‘Bush Band’ in support, the group sang and joked their way through the evening much to the delight of the audience.
The ‘True Blue Aussie Review’ by Judith Prior included all the best Aussie songs from ‘G’day, G’day’, ‘I still call Australia Home’, ‘Home Among the Gum Trees’, ‘Waltzing Matilda’, ‘Old Man Emu’, through to a rousing version of ‘I am Australian’!
The skits were filled with country style humour flowing throughout the performance.
Theatre group cast included Chrissy Jackholme, Caitlyn Mattner, Nina Brennan, Mark Jacobson, Stephanie Mattner, Aaron Welsteed, Julia Cook, Eden Hornby, Eloise Philpot and Bella Welsteed, while the Singing Drips and Bush Band was made up of Bailey Jackholme, Tianni Hema, Hayden Grave, Teagan Mattner and Jasmine Welsteed.
The Discovery Coast Theatre Group was formed in October 2010 in association with the then Captain Cook 1770 Festival Committee.
The Group held their first production at the Captain Creek Community Sport & Recreation Club in December 2010. The mini production, ‘Brian, the Christmas Tree’, enthralled audiences with the interesting characters and costumes and unusual dancing techniques.
Since 2010, and with numerous productions such as ‘Thank Cook You’re Here!’, ‘Curtain Up on Murder’, and Re-enactments of Cook’s Landing at our annual Captain Cook 1770 Festival under their collective belts, the group is moving from strength to strength.
Well done! Everyone is waiting the hear what is in the wings for their next production!
