Discovery Christian College Talent Aplenty

Sporting talent aplenty at new Discovery Coast School.

Discovery Christian College (DCC) athletes have a lot to be proud of following hugely successful carnivals in Bundaberg.

26 students represented DCC at the Bundaberg District Secondary School Sport carnival on 27-28 July.

All athletes can hold their heads high following many outstanding individual performances.

Special congratulations must be extended to Edwin Chang (4th in U13 boys’ high jump), Mason Gates (3rd in U13 boys’ high jump; 3rd in U13 boys’ 400m), Bianca Johnson (2nd in U14 girls’ 200m) and Alki Kallas who won his U12 boys’ 800m.

At the primary school carnival, DCC once again produced fantastic results. Alki Kallas once again dominated the U12 boys’ 800m final, while Lachlan Hazell secured a 2nd place in the U11 800m and Jackson Skinner (pictured above) came 2nd in the U10 boys’ long jump.

These fantastic performances were capped off by DCC winning the percentage trophy for small primary schools! Well done!

Tremendous achievements such as these for a school as young as DCC speaks volumes of the athletic talent that the students possess, the dedication of wonderful teaching staff who facilitate training and competition as well as a very supportive parent body.

Another exciting event will see a select group of DCC’s best athletes team up with athletes from Bundaberg Christian College. A combined DCC/BCC team compete at The Christian School’s Sports Association Athletics Carnival in Brisbane on 17 August will which provide invaluable experience and exposure for the athletes.
