Seven major regional events receive MEAP funding. Gladstone Regional Council has endorsed funding recommendations for seven major regional events.
Council’s Arts & Culture portfolio spokesperson Councillor Ren Lanzon said Round 1 funding applications were assessed by the Major Events Advisory Panel (MEAP).
“Council offers this funding opportunity to maintain and assist major regional events,” Cr Lanzon said.
“MEAP aims to encourage existing events to work towards financial sustainability while increasingly improving what they have to offer the community.
“Importantly it seeks to encourage new events to fill gaps in our events calendar to enhance the lifestyle of the people in the Gladstone Region and draw visitors to the region.”
The next round of MEAP funding will close on January 31 for events between July 1 and December 31, 2016.
“The events deliver value by providing enjoyment for the community while also attracting tourists and boosting the local economy,” Cr Lanzon said.
